ROBERT BERGER Obituary


Robert Lewis Berger  
Died July 29, 2017, at Riderwood Village in Silver Spring, Maryland, of complications of a neuromuscular degenerative disease. He was 91 years old. A biophysicist, he retired from a 32 year career at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Victoria Harden; by a son, David Berger of El Cajon, California; daughters, Christine Berger Hansen of Seattle, Washington; Karen Berger of Arad, Israel; by stepchildren, Durward McDonell, of Olney, Maryland and Emily McDonell of Germantown, Maryland; and by step grandchildren. Plans for a memorial service will be announced later. Donations in his memory should be made to the Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences (FAES) in memory of Robert L. Berger to support the Office of NIH History and Stetten Museum, P.O. Box 62861, Baltimore, MD 21264-2861.

Our sincere and deepest condolences to the Berger family on the loss of your loved one. Please know those we love remain with us for love itself lives on, and cherished memories never fade because a loved one's gone. Those we love can never be more than a thought apart, for as long as there is memory, they'll live on in the heart. May the God of comfort sustain you during your grieving process.
