Harold Evans was a beloved Trustee of JCA -- the Jewish Council for the Aging of Greater Washington -- and a longtime supporter of its people and community service programs. And how he loved to joke with us! "You're the CEO," he'd say to me, "so you should at least be able to me if my JCA stocks have split yet!"
I remember him fondly not only by the many generous, selfless gifts he made and the jokes he told but also by the series of Redskins tickets he gave annually to staff, often (always?) with help from his son, Geoffrey. He thrilled at the thank-you notes that appreciative staff members sent him, and I told him that the raffle I conducted annually to give those tickets away made me a momentary hero at the agency. He once remarked that that's the way it should be, though it wouldn't hurt if your staff put a little money in the cards they sent me.
I mourn with his family and friends.
