On a recent visit to the Mayo Clinic I had the good fortune of meeting Henry Kissinger. At the right time I approached him and introduced myself telling him that we had two mutual friends: Rudy Boschwitz and Mark Olson. With that Henry spring from his wheelchair and embraced me - bewildered that a stranger would know two of his personal friends. He really had high regard for
Mark as we all did.

I met Mark when we were both living in the Twin Cities and playing on the Honeywell hockey team. Next thing I knew I bought a business in Fergus Falls and he was the bank president there giving me my first loan. He was the only one I knew in town and he opened a lot of doors for me. We had some good laughs when I saw him last and he never forgot his Fergus roots. My condolences to Renee and family

We opened the Wall Street Journal this morning and received the sad news. Our deepest sympathy goes out to you. We remember him fondly from Emmanuel Lutheran. We always were amazed at his ability to predict budget income and be spot on when we were preparing the church budget. Again, our sympathy to the family

Renee and family, my deepest condolences. I have such fond memories of my time working with Mark at Treliant. He had professional accomplishments that most of us can only dream of, yet what I most admired is that he still made time to connect with so many on a personal level. He gave me advice on the kind of man I should marry, always asked about my children, and sent me the kindest note when my mom passed. He left a great impression on me, and I'm better for having known him. God bless your family through this difficult time.

Dear Renee & Family....Anne & I are heartbroken to hear of Mark's passing. As I became ABA president in 1999 Mark was a trusted counselor and guide. His community banking roots in MN connected us in a special way. Having just had an email exchange a week before he passed I am so glad we had a chance to chat. He was such a caring and thoughtful man. We will miss him greatly.

My heartfelt condolences to the Olson family. When Mark worked for my Dad Walter Spidahl, and his brother Jim, running the Spidahl ski shop, one of his jobs was to drive the Spidahl kids to swimming lessons at Swan Lake. We would all and holding on to the strap across the front seat, pretend to water ski. He was a great guy and I am sorry he left too soon. Christy Spidah Parsons
