JAY CHABROW

JAY W. CHABROW (Age 88)  
Passed away peacefully at his home in Boise Idaho, on September 29, 2018. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Jay was a multitalented aerospace executive at TRW (now Northrop Grumman) and several industry leading technology companies, including Network Appliance. He then transitioned to consulting for NASA, the NSA, and the CIA. This led him to many travels, and friendships, throughout the world. While serving as a consultant to NASA, he assembled and led a panel charged with validating the budget for the International Space Station, at a time when its continued funding was in doubt. The "Chabrow Report" and Jay's subsequent testimony was lauded by both sides of the aisle, and the Space Station's budget was approved. Commenting on the report, a previously skeptical Senator Dale Bumpers referred to Jay as the "best Space technology analyst in the country". He was greatly admired by leaders in industry and many government agencies for his exceptional skills as well as his ability to be a supportive mentor to his employees. Commenting on his passing, Ron Sugar, chairman of Uber and former Chairman and CEO of Northrop Grumman said "Jay was a patriot and great American that touched the hearts of everyone that knew him". Tom Mendoza, Vice Chairman of Network Appliance, also commented, and said "Jay's enthusiasm and love of life was a force multiplier. To all his friends he was, and remains, unforgettable."Jay was an extraordinary man with a quick wit, sense of humor, and charisma that put most people at ease while maintaining a "larger than life" persona. Over the course of his career, he met many colleagues and developed many close, lasting friendships. His love of life was unprecedented! Jay's search for knowledge was endless. He was also avid about football, golf and horology (watch collecting). He is survived by his loving wife, Elaine. Daughter, Suni Chabrow. Grandchildren, Krissy, Paige, Jayson and Shayna as well as twin great granddaughters, Ryan and Reese. He was preceded in death by a son, Frank Chabrow, a sister, Jackie RÁndalma, and a grandson, Spc. Douglas Jay Green. Jay was a Korean War veteran serving in the United States Army with the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Jay's inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
