DEMETRIUS GWYN
On Wednesday, September 19, 2007, DEMETRIUS GWYN, of Districts Heights, MD. Loving husband of Laurinda B. Gwyn; devoted son of William Samuel Gywn, Sr.; father of Dominique Gwyn-Thomas, Akeevia Turner, Daniel and Christopher Gwyn, Davon Gwyn-Thomas and Johnny Turner; brother of Patricia Loban, Meta Edwards, William, Jr., Charles and Timothy, Gwyn; grandfather of Jerrik Lowe and Marquis Turner. Also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends on Friday, September 28, at Emmanuel Church of God In Christ, 2600 Minesota Ave., SE, Washington, DC 20020, from 9 a.m. until time of funeral service 11 a.m. Superintendent Leonard C. Reed, officiating. Interment Maryland National Cemetery, Laurel, MD. Arrangements by STRICKLAND FUNERAL SERVICES.

Hey daddy you were on my mind. I was sitting here reading all the wonderful things people had to say about you and I just wish we had more time. I remember the times we shared but it just wasnt enough. Im doing good tho lol Ive started a new business (hair and makeup) and I love it . Its impossible for us to physically talk so this one is for you. Your legacy will forever live on. Also you might not approve of tattoos but these masterpieces youve created (poems) you leave me no choice love you daddy until we meet again❤

For 12 years you have been absent from us in body but not in spirit. I miss you and remember all the things that a big brother would do. You cared for me and protected me. Hello Brother. It has been many years since you have been gone. We miss you too very much. Life is so different now with the computer age and all this technology. I remember with they were talking about it back during my grade school years. This now allows me and family to look back and share many memories and no one misses a beat. Its pretty awesome. I will never forget how brilliant you were. Your poems brought a lot of joy and I still look at some of them under Love Poety on the internet. It was back in 1999. Just when the internet was getting up and going good and then you were gone. If I had more I would send them for publishing. But know the legacy lives. Pedro has published poems as well. So its is a legacy moving forward. Thank you for sharing Doctor love with the world. And Laurinda, she is a jewel. I know she misses you dearly and I love her for that. She is faithful and God driven. I wish I were more like her. I don't tell her often, but I know she knows that I love her too. Thank you for brining her back into our lives. She was Teresa's Friend and I am sure Teresa would approve as well. So rest in peace dear brother and until next time. Love Baby sis.

My Brother its been many years and the love and memories are still here as if you had left us only on yesterday. The yesterdays's come over and over again and yet the memories remain unchanged. Yesterdays, everyone has yesterday, but we can't live in yesterday, but we remember who we are, what we are and what we want to be. Your love for Christ let us know who you are "Elder Dememtrius Gwyn".
Now you should see your kids. They are growing up. Daniel is a big boy and well Chris, we will have to catch up with him later. Domonic and Davon are the apple of your eye. You would be so proud. The will graduate this year and will be going to high school. So that's the latest.

To the Family: Demetrius and I worked in the same office from 1996-97. He stayed at the Navy Yard while I went to Maryland and now in Virginia, but through all of that he and I kept in touch with each other. I would call him and say
"Brother, have you taken your medicine yet?" "Don't let me come down there and spank you." "He would laugh and say yes Dee, I took it." That's the way I will remember him. His laughter and kindness.

Words fail me at a time like this but I want to say I have been a co-worker of Demetrius' since December, 1989. His life here on earth is over and he has been released to Heaven where his spirit will sore high above and he will no longer be in pain. I had just recently sent him several emails to ask a few questions. We talked about his poetry writing constantly and discussed issues in bible texts. I did get worried when I did not get a call back or an email response. I know he is at peace now. God's peace be with you and your family.
