Strohman, Helen
Helen I. Strohman, age 83, of Marshfield, passed away with her son and daughter by her side on Friday, March 15, 2013 at the House of the Dove. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Marshfield. The Rev. Peter Ruggles will officiate. A time of visitation will be held from 9:00AM until 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery in Wausau.
Helen was born on July 9, 1929 in Wausau, the daughter of John and Irene (Wilke) Pophal. She lost her mother at the age of 15 and was blessed with a second mother, Marie (Mass-Schomann) Pophal. Helen attended school in rural Wausau and worked on the family farm east of Wausau. She returned to school and earned her GED on July 7, 1976. Helen was united in marriage to Robert G. Strohman on April 25, 1959 in Wausau. They later divorced in 1979. She worked at Weinbrenner Shoes in Marshfield and after her children were older, she worked in food service at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
Helen was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Marshfield. She enjoyed bowling, puzzles, word search puzzles, playing games, feeding the birds and traveling with her family.
Helen is survived by her children: Beth Strohman and Jon Strohman, both of Marshfield; a granddaughter, Melina (Lionel) Remesha, San Diego, CA and is expecting a great-grandson in June. She is further survived by three siblings: Alice (Eddie) Beahm, Frostproof, FL, Audrey (Howard) Miller, Bellvue, IA and Alfred (Delores) Pophal, Wausau; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Frances Kunze and Lillian Zunker.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your mother Beth. I hope that void that you feel in your heart at this painful time can be filled with all the great memories of you and your mom. The happy times, sad times, quiet times when it was just you and her. Those memories will help you get through some very rough times in the days to come. Just know that she is in a place of comfort and love.

I also worked with your mom in Food and Nutrition Services at St. Josephs. She and I shared many laughs as well as a dear friendship I will always cherish.
