I will miss Marty. I work at Rib Mountain Elementary as a first grade teacher, and she was our contact for setting up our therapy dog schedules. She always made sure to visit our room as well even though it was a challenge to make it all the way to the back of our school to find my room. Each week I was grateful and the students always looked forward to reading to a special dog and its owner. Marty was so dependable and always on top of things. I appreciated her willingness and how she enjoyed listening to the students. I will never forget her.

Over the course of her Red Cross career, Marty made a tremendous impact on the community by training hundreds of people in First Aid and CPR. Always a leader, she was one of the first instructors to use multi-media instructional tools. Her legacy continues through the numerous instructors she trained, who continue to teach lifesaving skills.
Marty received the American Red Cross Hero award in 2010 to honor her years of service and dedication to the lifesaving mission of the Red Cross. Memories of Marty are gifts that will last forever in the hearts of those who knew her at Red Cross in Wausau and across the state.

Marty was an Altrusa member and such a great volunteer and friend to us at Hawthorn Hills Elementary School. She came to volunteer and brought her therapy dogs into the kindergarten classrooms often. The kids just loved it. She would always stop in and chat with me and always had a smile on her face. She brought so much joy into our lives and will be missed so very much.

I will be forever grateful for Marty's kindness and compassion when our mother was dying. She was our angel...giving my sister and me time to rest while she and Snoopy watched over our mother during her last days. She will be missed for who was and her giving, loving spiriting. My prayers are with you all!
