Donald C. Weber, 88, of Oxford, Ohio, passed away surrounded by family on October 8, 2013 in Oxford. Donald was born April 23, 1925 in Wausau, Wisconsin, to the late Walter and Florence (Hinke) Weber. He grew up in Marathon City, Wisconsin, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving initially in WWII and again later in the Korean Conflict. In between his two enlistments, he attended the University of Wisconsin, graduating with a degree in education in 1949. He returned to the University of Wisconsin after his second enlistment, this time earning a Master's degree in Mathematics in 1954. He worked as a teacher and an actuary in North Dakota and Wisconsin for several years before returning to graduate school at North Carolina State University in 1963. He earned a Ph.D. in biomathematics from North Carolina State in 1970. He spent the rest of his career as a professor of statistics at Miami University, starting in 1967 and retiring in 1989.

On October 19, 1957, Donald married Elaine Dorothy Steckling at Zion Lutheran Church in Wausau. He is survived by Elaine of Oxford; four children, Lynn (Steven) Rohr of Kettering, Ohio, Mark (Becky) Weber of Madison, Mississippi, Heidi (Per) Sorensen of Jacksonville, Florida, and David (Beth) Weber of Coventry, Connecticut; five granddaughters (Brittney, Natalie, Anna, Maya, and Taryn) and four grandsons (Zack, Kellen, Erik, and Chase); two sisters, Joan Weber and Lois Caraway of Madison, Wisconsin; and two sisters-in-law, Margaret Weber of Marshfield, Wisconsin, and MaryAnn Steckling of Madison, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Allan Weber of Wausau, Wisconsin.

Donald was a devout Christian and long-time, active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hamilton, Ohio. His other passions included teaching, travel, classical music, and Miami sports, especially basketball and football.

Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 11, 2013, at Ogle Paul R. Young Funeral Home, Oxford. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 12, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hamilton. Pastor Kevin Jud will officiate. Burial will be after the service at Oxford Cemetery, Oxford.
