Dorothy J. Olds, 2531 Haanstad Rd, Eau Claire, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013.

She was born Nov. 16, 1918 in Mosinee, to the late Louis and Verna (Cater) Simonis. On Aug. 3, 1940 she married Orville P. Olds in Dubuque, Iowa. He was a loving husband of 49 years, passing away April 5, 1990.

She was a lifetime resident of Mosinee prior to moving to Eau Claire. She graduated from Mosinee High School, attended the Teacher's Normal School in Wausau and received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point. She taught school for 27 years in surrounding rural area schools and later the fourth grade at Mosinee Elementary School. She was also a lifetime member of the Mosinee United Methodist Church where she held various offices.

Dorothy enjoyed entertaining her family and friends, playing cards, reading and

taking bus tours. She was an avid sports fan and cheered most loudly for the Brewers and the Packers.

She is survived by a son, Don (Anita) Olds; a daughter, Connie (William) Smith; daughter-in-law, Kim Olds; two sisters: Ellen (Bill) Gabler, Donna (Daniel) Hintz; three sisters-in-law: Barbara Simonis, Margaret Bavlnka, Irene Olds; a special niece, Priscilla Leiter; eight grandchildren: Kerri Staeck, Rebecca Graf, Stuart (Rose) Staeck, Melanie (Daniel) Peterschmidt, Dawn (Mike) Gonzalez, Morgan (Luke) Garonski, Whitney (Tom) Kennedy, Madison Olds; eight great-grandsons: David and Joseph Graf, Theodore and Thomas Peterschmidt, Dylan and Preston Gonzalez, Jackson Staeck, Paul Insolera; and a great granddaughter, Caileigh Kennedy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville; a son, Stuart; three brothers and two sisters.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Mosinee United Methodist Church, Mosinee, WI. The Rev. Park Hunter will officiate. Burial will be in Mosinee Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, and again from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the services at the church.
