Sann, Marlin "Butch'

Marlin "Butch" Sann, 70, of Wausau passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Born December 7, 1943, he was preceded in death by his parents Franklin and Hilda Sann. Butch proudly served his country for ten years in the United States Marine Corps. He was one of the first five hundred soldiers to occupy Cuba during the Bay of Pigs and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. On August 8, 1977, he married his best friend, Sandra Golisch at St. Pauls' United Church of Christ, Wausau. Butch was a mechanic, truck driver and owner of Butch's Tire Store in Wausau before retiring in 1997. Butch's greatest love was his grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time with his many nieces and nephews and his dogs, Ernie and Rowdy. A lifelong fan of auto racing and Chevrolet he cheered on his favorite NASCAR racers Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr. Butch always enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, surfing the web, playing games and catching up with old friends on the internet.

Butch is survived by his wife, Sandie, his son, Douglas and Jodi Sann, his daughter, Toni Mohr and Matt Wehn of Mosinee; five grandchildren, Austin, Ashley and Clayton Mohr, Matthew and Brenden Sann; sisters, Mavis and Mel Wurm, Marrianne and David Schave; son-in-law, John Mohr; sisters-in-law, Barbara Golisch, Norma Schmidt, Beverly and Pete Hanson. Butch was preceded in death by a brother, Sam Sann; a sister, Dolly Sann; nephews, Brian Wurm, and David Schave Jr.; and brother-in-law, Kermit Golisch. Butch's family would like to thank the staff of the Aspirus Hospital ICU and his friend and doctor William Neitert for their exceptional care.

Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m., Sunday, January 26, 2014, at Wausau Eagles Club, 1703 S. 3RD AV, Wausau. Reverend Gary Schultz of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion. Visitation will be Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services.
