English, Jeanette H.
Jeanette H. English, age 89, of Merrill, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill.
Jeanette was born July 4, 1923, in Merrill, daughter of the late John and Sophia (Wiesneski) Sladek. She married Lyle H. English on August 16, 1947, and he preceded her in death on April 25, 1948. Jeanette attended St. Francis Xavier Catholic Grade School, and Our Lady of the Holy Cross High School, both in Merrill. Jeanette had worked as a librarian at Our Lady of the Holy Cross High School; the Lincoln County Bank; and Wausau Insurance Employees Credit Union. She retired in 1986. Jeanette was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill. She taught CCD classes at church, and sang in the church choir for more than 50 years. She was a former Girl Scout leader. Jeanette was a charter member of the Merrill Sweet Adeline's Club and sang in several quartettes. Her hobbies included reading, music, and traveling.
Jeanette is survived by her son, Michael (Beth) English, Appleton; and three brothers, John (Kathryn) Sladek, Stanley (Leah) Sladek, and George (Mary) Sladek, all of Merrill. Jeanette was especially fond of her nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Jeanette is preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Alft and infant Antoinette Sladek.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 Noon, Saturday, December 8, 2012, in Holy Cross Chapel at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill. Father Ronald Serrao will preside. Burial will follow in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Merrill. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Holy Cross Chapel. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
The English Family has suggested that memorials be directed to Bell Tower Residence.
