Wausau - Gregory L. Rosenthal, 43, died unexpectedly on Friday, April 27, 2018. He was a devoted husband and a loving father, son and brother. Greg worked tirelessly and passionately, serving others as a flight paramedic for 14 years, a job he loved to the end. For many years, he was a volunteer firefighter and first responder for the Kronenwetter Fire Department. Greg will be dearly missed by his family and friends, and we look forward to being reunited with him in Heaven.

He was born on October 11, 1974 and baptized on February 23, 1975. In May of 1988, Greg was confirmed in his faith at Trinity Lutheran Church in Minocqua. He attended Trinity Lutheran School and Lakeland Union High School in Minocqua. In May of 1992, he graduated from Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School in Jackson, Wisconsin. On September 8, 2000, he married the love of his life, Cathi Wilkening in Milwaukee and together had four beautiful children.

Among his favorite pastimes, he loved hunting and fishing with his children and riding his Harley Davidson.

Survivors include, his wife, Cathi Rosenthal and children, Tristan, Kaylen, Taylor and Hayden; his parents, Ernie and Diane Rosenthal; one brother, Special Forces Officer Sgt 1st Class Michael (Christiana) Rosenthal; father and mother-in-law, James and Mary Wilkening; and many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.

Cathi and my little angels.. I was proud to be your Nenna... Proud to call you and Greg our friends... The YEARS somehow GO by and we all go on with our lives... Cathi, Steve and I will always be there for whatever you or the kids may need... I was so overcome today with you and the kids as you said your words to Greg privately... Honored that you wanted me to be there with you and the kids... Humbled and grateful to have known such a man passionate about his job and loving what he did... You and Greg were there when I was in need.. I will never forget those times...Steve and I love you all... Rest in Peace Greg fly high and know we will be there for Cathi and your kids...

Cathi and Family,

I was fortunate to have known and worked with Greg as Police Chief. He was a great guy and we have lost a fantastic public servant. Greg was always ready to train and become better at his profession and that said a lot about him. I know it doesn't ease the pain but you can all be proud of what he has accomplished in his short life and now he is home and will be watching over you all, God Bless.
