Chester "Chet" Wiskowski Obituary
Col. Chester "Chet" Wiskowski, 87, of Santa Barbara, Calif., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011.

He was born Aug. 3, 1924, in Wausau. Chet graduated from the former Wausau High School, earned a bachelor's degree from University of Wisconsin in 1951 and a master's degree in hospital administration from Baylor University. He enlisted in the Marines in 1942, serving his country with Marine Air Group 5 in the South Pacific during World War II. After a brief career as an accountant in Madison, he received a direct commission into the U.S. Army where he served in the Medical Corps, with tours of duty in Africa, Bolivia and various posts in the U.S. from 1956 to 1970. After retiring from the Army, he went on to civil service with the Panama Canal Co. where he was administrator at Gorgas Hospital until 1974.

Chet loved all athletic endeavors, especially body building and tennis. He played football for the Wisconsin Badgers and continually looked for new ways to improve himself. He was a Boy Scout leader in Bolivia and always put his family first. His love of art and travel led to an eclectic collection of many unusual pieces. He also enjoyed friendships, classic European cars, fixing things, and treasure hunting at garage sales.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Linda of Santa Barbara; his first wife, Carol Belok of Venice, Fla.; his children, Lance of Seattle, Dane of Balboa, Panama, and Tara of Lompoc, Calif.; brother, James (Carol) of Madison; grandchildren, Carly, Vincent and Luke; nephews, Mike (Penny), Larry and Lee; and a niece, Lynn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes and Andrew Wyzkowski; and his brother, Ambrose (Mary Jane).

He will be greatly missed by his loving family.
