Dennis A. Hallas, 64, formerly of Mosinee, died, Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Riverside Medical Center, Waupaca.

He was born July 24, 1948, in Wausau, the son of the late Theodore Sr. and A. Josephine (Tomczak) Hallas.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving during Vietnam. He was proud to have served his country along with his other family members, his father, Theodore Sr., and his brother, Theodore, both in the Army, and his sister, Audrey, and his grandson, Jared, both in the Marines.

For many years he drove truck for Swatloski Trucking and Excavating in Mosinee. He loved playing softball, bowling and shooting pool and enjoyed his time working on pit crews for various local race teams. He also loved hunting with his family.

Survivors include a son, Sean (April), Hallas, Rothschild; three daughters, Jennifer (Craig) Duranceau, Birnamwood, Rebecca (Josh) Preboski, Pierre, South Dakota, and Tamara (Andrew) Soltow, Dorchester; a stepdaughter, Megan Hallas, Wausau; ten grandchildren, Jared Hallas, Dominic, Amra and Jasmin Duranceau, Jacob and Bradley Wierzba, Tori and Brody Soltow, and Rhavon and Zaylen Hallas; three brothers, Ted Hallas Jr., Sidney Hallas and Kenneth Hallas, all of Mosinee; three sisters, Linda Horak, Debbie Gorski and Audrey Hallas, all of Mosinee; 13 nieces and nephews; 13 great nieces and great nephews, and former wives, Deborah Hallas, Mosinee and Mary Ellen Hallas Rhinelander.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Sharon, Diane, Doreen and Mary; and brother-in-law, Joseph Horak.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. The Rev. Donald Przybylski will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where at 3 p.m. there will be a military service. Visitation will be again from 9:30 a.m. Monday until time of services at the funeral home.
