Josephine Iserman Obituary
She was born in Waverly, IA on May 7, 1926 to Harland E. and Ruth Richardson Yarcho. She graduated from Waverly High School in 1944. She received her bachelor of music degree from Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, IA in 1948. She taught vocal and instrumental music in Shell Rock, Janesville, Dumont, and Wapsie Valley for over 19 years. She retired from teaching in 1970 when she married Vern R. Iserman. They were married for 31 years before Vern's death in 2001.
She is survived by her daughter, Ruthanne Iserman Chazen and son, Mark (Barb) Hanawalt. Her survivors also include 10 grandchildren; Christopher Townsend (Jocelyn Anker), Cara Townsend (Robert Doyle) , Cameryn (John) Elliot, J. Levi Chazen, Caitlin (Gereth Morgan) Chazen, Colin Arthur Chazen (Jillian Nickerson) Michael (Justine Sasanfar) Hanawalt, Matthew Hanawalt, David Hanawalt, Daniel (Julie) Hanawalt; and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Roberta, and husband, Vern. Memorials may be given in her memory to the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, Trinity United Methodist Church, or Waverly Area Veterans Post.
Private graveside services were held at Harlington Cemetery in Waverly, with Pastor Allen Bidne officiating and Auxiliary Honors by the Waverly Area Veterans Auxiliary. The family will have a public memorial service at a later date. Online condolences for Jodie's family may be left at www.kaisercorson.com. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly is assisting the family.

What a wonderful teacher she was. I was a student of hers in the 1960s at Readlyn Elementary. I'm glad she lived a long and happy life. Family, you are in my prayers.
