Frank BIRO Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Frank J. Biro, on Saturday, March 28, 2020 in his 95th year. Frank was the beloved, devoted husband and best friend of his wife Helen (Brown) for 63 wonderful years. Loving Father to Frank Jr. (Nancy) and David (Shelley), and very proud "Papa B" to his grandsons, Steven, Scott and Shawn. Loving Brother to Mary (late Ed) Tymkow and the late Louis Biro. Family was always first and foremost in Frank's heart. Frank was a kind, true gentleman, and loyal, helpful, friend to so many. Best known throughout the Welland Community as the proud owner of the Welland Flower Shop and Regency Inn Banquet Hall for 42 years. Frank was a well-known, faithful parishioner at Our Lady of Hungary Church throughout his whole life. Always there to help at all of the Church functions, and served as the Church Treasurer for many years. He was also a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus for 69 years, serving as their Faithful Comptroller for a number of years. Frank will be dearly missed by all who knew him and will remain forever in our hearts. The family would like to thank the staff at Patterson Funeral Home Ltd. for their kindness during this time. Due to the current health crisis a private graveside service will take place. A memorial service/celebration of life will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy donations may be directed to Our Lady of Hungary Church. Arrangements entrusted to J.J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence 19 Young Street, Welland on line memories and condolences at www.jjpatterson.ca As a memorial tribute, a tree will be planted through The Niagara Woodlands Restoration Program. A tree grows - memories live.

Helen, Frank, Dave, Nancy and Shelley:
On behalf of Mary, Kim and Bill B, we are very sorry for your loss. As everyone else has attested, he was a kind man and a terrific neighbor that helped and touched each of us in his own way. The last time I saw him was a KofC event where one of his grandson's was driving and he was tutoring, and I remember thinking what patience and giving that takes. (Having gotten two past this passage and a third starting I know only too well). He was also always welcoming, even for a ride along, and understanding when Paul, Dave and Frankie and I broke a window playing street hockey. And rather than leave the hood to move on up', I am sure he was the voice that said stay amongst friends that has an annual bbq. Allan Salek

Dear Helen & family, I will always remember the big warm hug I would receive each time I entered the house. With a warm smile and a twinkle in his eye he would offer you the world. My first memories are a super 8 home movie of their wedding and Frank spinning Helen around on the dance floor, boy did he love to dance. Then the time on the farm on Maple Avenue getting ready for Saturday mornings to get the plants to the market. I was the one on the back of the truck lucky enough to get the plants when the call came, get me a beef steak, Hungarian banana hot or kohlrabi. Yet at the end of the day he would say job well done and gave me a quarter to buy a milkshake. Good old times. Our families were intertwined and we did a lot for over 60 years. When my father passed away five years ago Frank became my second father but he said I was to call him Fadduh and Helen Mudduh like the song he sang to me from Camp Gernada. Even on Wednesday March 25, he spent and hour on the phone with me to make sure I was going to plant my garden properly this season and to make sure my hydrangeas got enough water. Always in my heart your dadduh Helen xoxox
