Lillian Beebee Obituary

WELLSVILLE - Lillian R. Beebee crossed the finish line on Thursday, January 7, after a long and courageous battle with cancer - marking the end of her earthly life and the beginning of her eternal life with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Lillie was born to the late Richard and Teresa Ullmann in South Hampton, Long Island on March 9, 1950. Graduating from Hampton Bays High School in 1967, she went on to earn a Bachelors of Science in Geology from Long Island University at South Hampton in 1971. She married the love of her life, Dale W. Beebee, on June 12, 1971.

She chose to continue her education by earning a Master's Degree in teaching from the University of New York at Binghamton. Over the years, she taught at the Binghamton Junior High School, Immaculate Conception School, and the Wellsville Christian School where she was also one of the founding board members.

She attended and was actively involved at the Yorks Corners Mennonite Church where she had taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and held various other positions of ministry. She also served on the Board Of Directors at Youth For Christ for several years.

Lillie will be remembered for her love of sports. In her youth, she participated many sports including being an excellent bowler. In her adult life, she played softball and loved to watch the New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills.

She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Beth (Michael) Burrell of West Henrietta and Melody (Jay) Janssen of Wellsville. She also has six grandchildren who she loved to spend time with - Jordan, Alex, Evelyn, Ethan, Joel, and Lily. Her sister, Karen (George) Judy of Lansing, NC also survives her.

Visitation will be held at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville on Saturday (Jan. 9, 2016) from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.

On Jan. 10, there will be calling hours at the Yorks Corners Mennonite Church from 2-3 p.m. followed by the funeral at 3 p.m. with Pastor Eugene Miller presiding. A short graveside service will be held at the Yorks Corners Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Yorks Corners Mennonite Church, Penn York Camp, or the Allegany County Cancer Services.
