Joseph McGarvey of Bellaire, TX, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 10th at the Holly Hall Retirement Community surrounded by his loving family. He was 89 years old. Mr. McGarvey held careers in publishing, real estate and property management in New York and Connecticut.
Born in New York, Mr. McGarvey served in the United States Air Force during World War II then in the reserves for several years and was honorably discharged. He was a member of the Lion's Club in Kent, Connecticut, past President of the Kent Chamber of Commerce and was actively involved in the Kent Art Association and many other civic endeavors.
Mr. McGarvey was predeceased by his son, Kevin (Carol, also deceased). Joseph is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 67 years, Jayne, his daughters: Kyle Ariza (Mario) of Bellaire, TX; Karen Whitman (James) of Dunn Loring, VA; and his sons Keith (Karen) of Torring-ton, CT and Kraig (Lynn) of Cave Creek, AZ; grand-children- Lara Giallombardo (Michael), Kevin Mc-Garvey, Patrick Mc-Garvey, Lindsay Jakobovits (Matthew), Dana Whitman, Marissa Ariza and Kolin Ariza; great-grandchildren Adrianna Giallombardo and Dominic Giallombardo.
His caring, kindness and love will be extremely missed by all whose paths he crossed, his many friends and by his family.
His family is very grateful for the kindness and loving attention provided by his home caregivers, his doctors with the Baylor Clinic Geriatrics team, the staff of St. Luke's Hospital, Holly Hall Skilled Nursing and Houston Hospice.
