Nancy Driscoll Obituary

Nancy Pierce Driscoll of West Hartford, widow of Walter R. Driscoll Jr., passed away at Saint Mary Home, West Hartford, Conn. on Friday, March 25, 2011 surrounded by her family. Born in Hartford on September 18, 1926 to the late Anna (Leary) Pierce and Leslie L. Pierce, Nancy grew up in Hartford, graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy in 1944, and lived in West Hartford since 1950. Nancy devoted her life to her family; she was a caring and compassionate wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed a close circle of friends. She was a member of the St. Thomas the Apostle Women's Club, the Saint Francis Hospital Auxiliary, West Hartford Senior Center, and former member of the Ruth Wyllis Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Nancy is survived by her daughter Nancy D. Martin of West Hartford, and her granddaughter Emily Hotchkiss and husband Zachary of Southington. She is also survived by her three sons: Scott A. Driscoll of Jupiter, Fla.; Gregory P. Driscoll and his wife Mary of Farmington and their children Meaghan and Brendan; Thomas M. Driscoll and his wife Patricia of West Hartford and their children Sarah and Rachel. Nancy also leaves a great-grandchild Madison. She is also survived by her sisters Shirley Skelly of Wethersfield and Jane Dowling of West Hartford; and two brothers, John Zazzaro and his wife Marianna of Avon and Paul Zazzaro of Hartford. She is also survived by sister-in-law Doris Crussana of Charleston, R.I. Nancy also leaves 18 nieces and nephews and many, many dear friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Nancy was predeceased by her "special" father Paul A. Zazzaro, her brother James L. Pierce and her sister Anne Zazzaro, as well as her son-in-law Michael Martin and her oldest grandchild Tracy Martin. Nancy's family is especially grateful for the kind and compassionate care she received at The Atrium in Rocky Hill and at Saint Mary Home in West Hartford, especially her "sweet pea."
Funeral services were held Wednesday March 30 with a procession at 9:30 a.m. from the Molloy Funeral Home 906 Farmington Ave. West Hartford with the celebration of her Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. in Saint Thomas the Apostle Church, 872 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Tuesday March 29, 2011 from 4–8 p.m. On line remembrances may be made at www.molloyfuneralhome.com.
