Frances Reynolds Obituary

Frances Kord Reynolds
Frances "Fran" Reynolds, a Westport resident for 56 years, beloved wife of the late Robert "Bob" Reynolds, died peacefully at 89 on May 25th. She was born July 31, 1928, in Arlington, MA, daughter of the late Lucy and Zigmont Kord. Fran was predeceased by her dear sister, Lucille Kord Leland, her nephew, David Leland, and her grandson, Jon Levesque. Fran was an amazing and inspiring woman whose laugh and smile warmed all those who knew her. She loved going to Compo Beach, gardening in her yard, going to NYC, but most of all, spending time with her family and friends who she viewed as her greatest gifts.
Fran graduated class of 1949 at Wellesley College and then attended Yale University for Graduate Studies as one of the first few female students. Following her education, Fran worked with a great sense of pride for the National Tuberculosis Association and the American Lung Association in New York City. It was there that Fran met and married, the love of her life, Bob and moved to Westport. Fran served as the Senior Services Coordinator for the Town of Westport for almost 25 years. Fran was on the Board of Directors for the Southwestern CT Agency on Aging, Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County, Friends of the Westport Center for Senior Activities and served on numerous committees. Her awards include AARP's "Senior Star of the Year" Award (2009), "Service to Older Adults" Award (2012) and "Service to Seniors" Award (2010 & 2017).
Fran was a dedicated and loving mother and grandmother. She leaves behind her children, Suzanne and Vincent Baum of CT; Dorothy and David Verani of NH; granddaughters, Megan, Katie, Kiera and Julia; and her loving nephew Alan Leland, niece Nancy McGuinty as well as ten great-nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by Bob's daughter, Carolann, her grandson, Kent and great grandchildren, Danielle and Luke. Her spirit will live on in her family and in the many hearts she touched.

I have known Francis through her wonderful work at the Southwestern CT Area Agency on Aging. She was a lovely, gentle, gracious and caring woman who contributed so much to make the lives of others better.

It was both a pleasure and an honor to have known her.
