George Robert Griswold
1929–2020 George Robert (Bob) Griswold of Palm Harbor, FL, died on December 19 in Dunedin, FL. Bob was born in White Plains, NY, the second child of Leon and Mae (West) Griswold. He grew up with his sister Carolyn in a Christian missionary family. Bob served in the U.S. Army for two years before attending Nyack College, graduating in 1952.
He began his career as a teacher before embarking on a 25-year career in advertising and publishing with McGraw Hill in New York City. He married Audrey Larsen in 1952, and they had two children, who were raised in Birmingham, MI. Bob remarried Trudy (Baber) Griswold in 1975 and they had two daughters, whom they raised in Westport, CT. In 2004 Bob and Trudy relocated to the Tampa Bay area, where they lived until Bob's death.
A lifelong Christian, Bob wrote a book called Jesus Christ Within in 2016. Bob was a passionate antiquer and carpenter and was known for his charisma and his kindness.
Bob is survived by his wife of 45 years, Trudy; his children Debi Martin (Bruce), Jupiter, FL; Tim Griswold (Marianne Jones), Birmingham, MI; Caroline Griswold (Brian Wood), San Francisco, CA; and Katie Csaszar (Brandon), Tarpon Springs, FL; his beloved grandchildren Casey Waggy, Kristy Griswold, Michael Csaszar, Maya Csaszar, and Hale Wood; and his two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Emma Waggy.
