Ernie was born and raised on a farm in the Glasnevin area. Ernie was a hardworker who enjoyed farming. Ernie met the love of his life, Vivian Hazen, and they were married on October 12, 1957. They built a new home across from his family homestead. In 1970, they purchased land northwest and moved to the farm they would raise their five children and call their family home/farm. In 1984, they built and moved into a new home in Ogema. Ernie continued to farm from there for several more years. Ernie and Viv travelled throughout Canada and the US sightseeing and visiting family for several years until her passing in 1993. In 1995, Ernie met the next love of his life, Ileen Yates. In 2003, he moved to an apartment in Weyburn so he could be closer to her. They attended many dancing, bowling, and other events and enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends at the Weyburn Wheatland Centre, where he was also a member of the Board for several years and was involved in a lot of volunteer work. Family meant everything to Ernie. He coached and attended many of his kids' 4-H and sporting events, grandkids events, attended family weddings, reunions, other special occasions and was often emcee. He was a jack of trades, which his skills have also been passed on to his children and grandchildren. One of his proudest/memorable jobs was being that of general foreman of the Ogema Recreational Complex as well as the Deep South Personal Care Home in Pangman. Ernie held positions of Reeve and Councilor with the R.M. of Key West for several years. A Mass of Christian Burial for Ernie was held Wednesday, July 7, 2021 from McKenna Hall, Weyburn, SK with Fr.
