Pee Wee's death is a severe loss to me. For me he was my "lil" brother whom I adored beyond description. Now, I can only envision us as kids. From an early age he loved music. He used to make instruments some of which looked like either a clarinet or a flute. He'd get under the house which was built up high off the ground, lean against one of the pillars and play his music much of which he created. I'd sit there in the sand with him and listen probably annoying him at times with my chatter and questions. However, he never acted as if I was a bother. He was supposed to visit with me in Tallahassee, Florida and our sister Gloria and I were planning on visiting him and Charlotte in early November. Charlotte, thanks for all you did to ensure his comfort and happiness. Loving You and Peewee as I try to type this note through my tears. And thanks to all who worked with and befriended him. Altha

Quite rightly lauded as an outstanding musician and arranger, but I will remember Pee Wee most for his kindness. Supporting schools, young musicians and music festivals, in 2009 he even brought a band to Charmouth village hall on the south coast of England to play for my wife's big birthday. A true gentleman who will be sorely missed, but millions of memories live on. RIP.

Feel extremely fortunate to have caught Pee Wee Ellis many times during his Van Morrison phase, and what a treat! Pee Wee's wide range greatly enhanced Van's sound, both on the stage and in the studio. We will miss you, Pee Wee. Blow your horn in Ancient Peace, Brother.
