Ruth Dean 1945 - 2021 It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ruth Dean (nee Freeman) of Lloydminster, AB, on July 7, 2021 at the age of 75. Her memory lives on through her loving family, Rob, Jesse, Deborah, Richard (Karen) and Darwin. Ruth's roots started in Weyburn, Saskatchewan where she grew up on the family farm with her brother and sister and attended Weyburn Collegiate Institute. Over the past twenty-five years she worked for the Lloydminster Public School Board as a secretary at Bishop Lloyd Middle School and loved working with her colleagues and welcoming students every August. She had a love for travel and every Christmas a sunny vacation was planned to escape from the cold winter. She had a love for dogs, completing play-by-plays with her brother and sister on Blue Jay and Roughrider games and of course curling bonspiels. She was predeceased by her parents, Elton and Aileen Freeman. And in keeping with her wishes, Ruth will be interred with her Mom and Dad in Weyburn, SK at a later date. The family wishes to thank the doctors and care staff at The Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute for their amazing care and treatment. A donation in Ruth's memory may be sent to University Hospital Foundation, Cross Cancer Institute or the Lloydminster SPCA. Rob I am offering my deepest condolences to you and family on your mother's passing. I will miss seeing her coming into Safeway and seeing her smile and having our little chats. She would always keep me updated on what you were doing. May your memories bring you comfort.

My sincerest condolences to you, Rob and your family.

Ruth was our next door neighbor for almost 30 years. We couldn’t have asked for a better neighbor. We would take mail in and watch each other’s houses when either household was away, sometimes dogsitting for her. Ruth always took a special interest in what our three kids were doing while they were living at home. She always asked about them and what they were doing, even after they had moved away from the neighborhood. She even attended special events at our church to hear our kids’ musical performances.

When our kids were small, Ruth would let our kids “borrow” her dog Sapphire. They would run Sapphire up and down the block and play with her in the front yard. That act of kindness was helpful to us so that we were able to avoid getting our own dog.
After Rob left home, Ruth helped our kids develop a work ethic by employing them to mow her lawn and shovel the snow.

Ruth and I would often plan coffee visits to Home Hardware, summer and winter. COVID put a stop to that for the past year so, weather permitting, we would meet in her driveway and sit and visit for hours. I will miss that immensely.

Ruth always had an upbeat attitude, even when dealing with some past health issues. When we were both on our way to work in the morning she would give a wave and smile. She enjoyed her work at Bishop Lloyd School and enjoyed seeing all the teachers and kids that went there. There will definitely be a large void when school starts back in the fall.

I consider it a privilege and an honor to have known Ruth as a neighbor and a friend. I will miss her!

I hope that beautiful memories offer you peace during this time of loss. Please accept my families deepest condolences for your loss. I will remember Ruth as a witty and funny colleague who had the most genuine heart. As well, all my sons attended Bishop Lloyd and send their heartfelt condolences. They said, she is irreplaceable and they are sad no other kids will get to meet her. She will be missed by so many. I will keep you all in my prayers.
