Frances Schroeder Obituary

Frances M. Schroeder, 90, of 1440 N. 10th St., Quincy, died at 12:50 p.m. Monday (April 29, 2013) in Blessing Hospital.

Frances was born Oct. 12, 1922, in Camp Point, a daughter of George J. and Myrtle Knight. She married Charles Lowell "Jim" Schroeder on July 28, 1946, in Camp Point. He died on Dec. 22, 1995.

Frances worked at Dayton-Dowd Pump Co. and later at Moorman Manufacturing Co.

The majority of her life was spent as a homemaker. She enjoyed needlework, reading, playing cards, golfing and following the Quincy Blue Devils. She was a die-hard fan of her grandson's baseball team.

Frances was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Fowler and later Salem United Church of Christ in Quincy. She volunteered at the Blessing Hospital Tea Room for 25 years and belonged to the Coatsburg Lionesses.

Survivors include three children, Janice (Robert) Febus of Taylorville, Susan (Calvin) Clayton of Rockton, and Charles (Diane) Schroeder of Quincy; five grandchildren, Nicole "Nicki" Febus, Kristin "Kristi" (John) Foster, Chelsea Clayton, Benjamin "Ben" Schroeder, and Joseph "Joe" Schroeder.

In addition to her husband, Frances was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Sgt. Floyd L. Knight and Eugene Knight; four half brothers, Paul McFate, and Earl, Oren and John Knight; and three half sisters, Goldie Parn, Bertha Hester, and Edna Thompson.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Thursday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Disseler officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy.

VISITATION: 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home

MEMORIALS: St. Vincent's Home, American Diabetes Association or a charity of the donor's choice

Jan, Susan and Chuck, we were deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Aunt Frances. All of you are in our thoughts and prayers during this sad time. May the Lord comfort you and give you peace in knowing that she is in a better place.
