Daniel Louis Steinmann Obituary
HANNIBAL, Mo. -- Daniel Louis Steinmann, 69, of Hannibal, died at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Dan was born May 30, 1949, in Hannibal, to Andrew and Blanche Calliott Steinmann. He was married to Sherri Creech on July 14, 1979, in New London. She survives.

Professionally, Dan worked in sales, first at Pitney Bowes, where he took an early retirement and then later at Tom Boland Ford where he retired in 2011.

Dan proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany.

Dan was never happier than when he had the opportunity to be outdoors. Whether hunting or fishing, Dan simply enjoyed being outside. Dan never hunted for anything he could not eat. He loved to hunt deer, turkey and quail to name a few. Fishing outings with his buddy, Mike Benn, to Hunnewell Lake were always special. Trips with his wife, Sherri, were something Dan took pleasure in. Watching old westerns or St. Louis Cardinals baseball were other pastimes for Dan. Dan was known to both cuss and cheer feverishly for the Cardinals depending on how they were playing. Dan's family, especially his grandchildren, were very special to him. Birthday and holiday dinners were always a celebrated occasion that usually meant for Dan a delicious lobster dinner accompanied by his favorite Cabernet.

Witty and stubborn at times, Dan was a loving and loyal husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many. Faithful to those that knew and loved him, Dan enjoyed life's simple pleasures. There was nothing he loved more than gathering together with friends and family.

Dan had a strong faith in God and was a Protestant by faith.

Other survivors include his children, Danae Steinmann (Kenneth Foster) of Hannibal, Bryan Steinmann (Paula) of Bowling Green, Beth Smith of Hull, Ill., and Tanya Cassoni of the state of Texas; 10 grandchildren, Arlow Charlton, Dustin Burroughs, Makenzie "Sparkle" Burroughs, Hunter Ching, Bella Ching, Courtney Cassoni, Gregg Steinmann, Logan Steinmann, Victoria Steinmann, and Courtney Steinmann; one sister-in-law, Becky Steinmann; one brother, Herman Steinmann (Mary); and four nephews, Aaron Steinmann (Lori), Sean Steinmann, David Steinmann (Kim) and Todd Steinmann (Michelle). He is also survived by great-nieces, great-nephews and dear family friends, Debbie and Darrel McKay, Janice and Mike VanSickle, Marilyn Cohn and Mike Janes, Richie and Becky Ferrel, Paula Crane, and Dave and Lou Lemen.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Dwight Steinmann, aunts, uncles, his mother-in-law and his father-in-law.
