Evalie Diane Hare Obituary
Evalie Diane Hare, of Hannibal, died at 5:48 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018, at Good Samaritan Home in Quincy, Ill.

Evalie was born March 24, 1940, in Carthage, Ill., a daughter of Aubra and Esther (Flemming) Vest. She married Norman W. Hare on June 5, 1960.

She was a graduate of Augusta High School, and in 1964 she received her bachelor of education degree from Quincy University. Her greatest joy was her 35-year teaching career in the Quincy School District teaching at Adams and Baldwin schools.

Evalie enjoyed and performed music all of her life. She was a charter member of the Quincy Symphony Chorus. She enjoyed playing the piano, French horn and singing with the Mark Twain Chorale and the Monroe City Singers. A highlight was when she sang with the Mark Twain Chorale at a performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

She was well-known for her homemade pies and as an avid reader, enjoyed belonging to several book clubs. She also was a member of music clubs and the Hannibal Women's Club. Evalie volunteered at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra, playing the piano. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and embroidering.

Surviving are her husband, Norman Hare of Marion County; a daughter, Diana Lee Hare of Springfield, Ill.; a son, Scot N. (Kristi) Hare of St. Louis; and four grandchildren, Aiden and Emma Hare, Scot's children, and Aubriana and Alina Hare, Diana's children. Cousins also survive.

Evalie was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Gary Vest.
