Gary L. Williamson Obituary
Gary L. Williamson, 74, of Quincy, died at 5:02 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Blessing Hospital.

Gary was born July 26, 1943, in Quincy, a son of Orin and Darlene E. Carper Williamson. He married Linda Dochterman on Nov. 16, 1968, at First Christian Church, Quincy. She survives.

Gary was a 1961 graduate of Quincy High School. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy. Gary was employed as a professional toolmaker by Motorola and Kuester Tool & Die, both in Quincy. He then worked at Intermet in Palmyra, Mo., until his retirement. After he retired, Gary worked part time in the meat department at Hy-Vee on Harrison, Quincy.

Gary was a lifelong, die-hard Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed playing golf and taking cruises. He and Linda especially enjoyed traveling as couples with Linda's sister, Rhonda, and her husband, Bill. Most of all, Gary loved any activity that included his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Quincy Elks Lodge No. 100 for 18 years.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three children, Kary (Don) Groom of College Station, Texas, Amy Williamson of Quincy and Jason (Ruth Story) Williamson of Lawrence, Kan; five grandchildren, Justin (Amanda) Groom of College Station, Daniel Groom of Lewisville, Texas, Kiera Groom of Cypress, Texas, Mackenzie Williamson of Quincy and Rosemary Williamson of Lawrence, Kan.; six great-grandchildren, Allie, Wesley and Colton Groom, Amani and Arden Groom, and Payten Williamson; his sister-in-law, Rhonda (Bill) Marsh of Quincy; his brother-in-law, Jeff (Leisa) Dochterman of Canton, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Williamson; his parents-in-law, R. Lee "Doc" and Doris D. Dochterman; and his beloved dachshund, Wrigley.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with the Rev. Henry Pratt conducting and the Elks Lodge Memorial Service. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
