Mary Karen "Kay" Penrose Obituary
QUINCY -- Mary Karen "Kay" Penrose, 75, of 320 Cherry St., died Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born Aug. 28, 1943, in Quincy, a daughter of Carl and Mary (Hickey) Hamann.

Kay attended Quincy Notre Dame High School and graduated in 1962. She worked as an activity aide at the Illinois Veterans Home for 31 years and retired in 2003.

Kay was a devoted Catholic and actively involved in many prayer groups. She truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures such as church, activities in the community and volunteering for Meals on Wheels. Some of her favorite times out would be visiting with friends, family and extended family near and far. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She truly cared for God's creations through planting flowers and spending time in her yard. She loved taking long rides on country roads and admiring the scenery. She will be deeply missed by all.

She is survived by two sons, Brad Penrose and his wife, Amy, of Quincy and Darrick Penrose; five grandchildren, Shelby Job and her husband, Dallas, Autumn Penrose, Jordan Penrose, Haley Penrose and Hannah Penrose; four great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Leightyn, Meilah and Dallas Jr.; and three siblings, Ron Hamann and his wife, Rose, Rick Hamann and his wife, Maggie, and Kathy Calhoun.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Michael Hamann.
