Mary Virginia Miller Obituary
Mary Virginia Miller, 77, of Quincy, died at 5:40 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at Timberpoint Health Care Center in Camp Point.

Mary was born Sept. 17, 1940, in Quincy, to the late Howard and Elda Grace (Lasswell) Hemming.

Mary grew up in Meyer on the river, and her mother taught her in school. In high school, she was in the band and played the accordian, which her son Howard still has.

Mary had worked for Quincy Paper Box, Thornton Orchard and Steinman Grocery. She loved to do puzzles, word searches and playing games on the computer. She especially loved being outdoors and tending to her roses and lights. Christmas was her favorite holiday.

Mary enjoyed all of the times friends would come and just sit and visit, laugh and just enjoy the day.

Surviving are two sons, Michael (Mary) Harris of Liberty, Howard Harris of Quincy; Howard's family, Bill and Amy Phelps and their children, Collin, Emma and Libby Phelps; four grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; eight great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and a special neighbor, Patti Shoup of Quincy.

She was preceded in death by aunts, uncles and cousins.

SERVICES: Cremation rites have been accorded. No services are planned.

MEMORIALS: To the family in care of Howard Harris or to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.

ARRANGEMENTS: Hunter Funeral Home.
