Phillip A. Peters Obituary
QUINCY -- Phillip A. Peters, 57, of Quincy, joined the angels in heaven at 10:02 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018.

Phillip was born July 16, 1961, in Quincy, a son of William J. and Bernice E. Kamphaus Peters.

Phillip was a 1980 graduate of Quincy Senior High School. Phillip was a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 25 for many years and achieved the rank of brotherhood. Phillip participated in numerous Special Olympic sporting events including bowling, basketball, softball and soccer. He received numerous awards and medals in his Special Olympic events. Phillip was a Chicago Cubs baseball and Kansas City Chiefs football fan. Phillip was a huge fan of Harry Potter and always hoped to be able to go to Harry Potter Land. Phillip loved to play the lottery and actually won big a few times. He also enjoyed playing video/gaming machines as one of his pastimes.

Phillip had a heart of gold which was clearly displayed by his love and care of his mother, Bernice. He always made sure that his mom was taken care of. Phillip always thought of his work friends as his second family. He had been employed by ISS/Exact Packaging since 1992, and prior to that he was employed at CRC/Transitions. Phillip was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, but he loved attending Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

Survivors include his mother, Bernice E. Peters of Quincy; five brothers, Stanley (Darla) Peters of Quincy, Dean (Kay) Peters of Quincy, William "Bill" (Melinda) Peters of Camp Point, Shawn (Tina) Peters of Quincy and Derek (Jennifer) Peters of Quincy; three sisters, Peggy (Cornel) Azotea and Lynn (Andy) Dittmer, both of Quincy, and Geralyn (Mark) Venvertloh of Poway, Calif.; his girlfriend of over 10 years, Connie Childers; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Phillip was preceded in death by his father, William J. Peters; his grandparents, Ralph and Laura Schreake Peters and Sylvester and Gertrude Dieker Kamphaus; and a great-niece, Madelyn Peters.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Father Michael Kuse and Father Tom Donovan conducting. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

VISITATION: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

MEMORIALS: Special Olympics Illinois (Quincy Area) or the Quincy Humane Society.
