James Ogle Obituary

James G. "Jim" Ogle, 75, of 5125 Eagle Pine Drive, died at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday (April 2, 2013) in his home.

He was born on July 12, 1937, in Quincy, the son of Herb and Helen Akers Ogle.

Jim graduated from Liberty High School and attended Western Illinois University where he played baseball. Jim first married Kay Baird. He later married Lee Dufur Sweet on Dec. 1, 1983. She survives.

Jim was an Allstate Insurance agent for more than 35 years.

Jim was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Liberty. Jim was devoted to his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Jim was an avid golfer and card player. He was a longtime member of Spring Lake Country Club where he previously served as chairman of the grounds committee and was a founding member of the Hal Barton Tournament.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Jacqui Bevelheimer and her husband, Chuck, of Quincy, Peggy Ogle of Coconut Creek, Fla., Susan Flynn and her husband, Mike, of Hudsonville, Mich., Liz Little and her husband, Kirk, of Quincy, and Greg Ogle and his wife, Diana, of Geneseo; 11 grandchildren, Devan and Joe Bevelheimer, Ryan Noble, Connor Flynn, Austin, Sarah, Hannah and Rachel Little, and Nick, Mitch and Zach Ogle; one great-grandchild, Madisyn Ogle; a brother, Dave Ogle of Quincy. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Saturday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home. Interment will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to the Blessing Patient Care addition.
