April 10, 1940 - July 20, 2018Louis (Lou) George Ertle, 78, passed away Friday, July 20, 2018 at his home. Lou was born April 10, 1940 in Jersey City, NJ. He grew up in Fullerton, CA, attended St. Mary's Elementary School and graduated from Mater Dei High School in 1958, where he lettered in Baseball, Basketball and Football. Lou was inducted into the Mater Dei Hall of Fame. Lou's love for baseball was evident when he signed with the Dodgers organization shortly after High School. He played professional baseball for 8 years. During that time, he started a family with his wife Trudy Darlene Hale. Focusing on raising his family, he transitioned to a career in the insurance industry where he worked for Prudential for more than 30 years. Lou is survived by his wife of 56 years, Trudy; daughters, Paryse, Desiree and Sabryn; sons, Deron, Brandon and Gehrig; grandchildren, Austin, Chanel, Ashlynn, Braedon, Peyton and Kennedy; great grandson Lucas; brothers, Don (deceased) and James; sisters Lynn and Carol; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10AM on Friday, July 27, 2018 at St Mary's Catholic Church in Fullerton, CA, with a viewing prior. A reception will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mater Dei Lettermen's Club Athletic Scholarship Fund.
