Marie Adishian

SALINAS - Marie Helen Adishian, loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend passed away in Salinas, CA, at the age of 89.
Marie is predeceased by her father, Daniel Presnall; mother, Etta Lee Creech, and brother, Stanton Presnall.

Marie is survived by Harold Adishian, her loving husband of 68 years; son, Dr. Scott Adishian (Lee), of Sierra Madre; daughter, Karen Adishian (Jim Martin) of Salinas; grandchildren, Laura Benton (Matthew) of Seattle, Nathaniel Warne (Charissa) of South Bend Indiana, Kristen Adishian Bozzo (Peter) of Brentwood, Allison Adishian, of Santa Monica, Jennifer Adishian of Los Angeles, and great-grandchildren, Lennox and Iris Benton and Corrina and Miles Warne, all of whom she was very proud.
Marie, better known to her family as Auntie Ree, Grandma Ree, Nana and Grams is lovingly remembered also by her beloved nieces and nephews, David Presnall, (Lucinda), Susan Hendrickson (Dale), Claudia Jaurequi (Danny), Jon Presnall (Michelle), Beverly Guettler, Arthur Hovsepian (Linda), Stanley Hovsepian, Gary Adishian, Dr. Dale Adishian (Paddy), Philip Adishian (Michelle), Marilyn Maruska (Tom) and numerous other close relatives and friends.

Marie was born December 6, 1928, in Los Angeles. She graduated from Compton Union High School in 1946 and then Compton District Junior College in 1948 where she met the love of her life, Harold. They were married in June of 1949. Marie went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1950. The two started their family in Norwalk having a son, Scott and later a daughter, Karen. Harold and Marie moved their family to La Habra where they lived among wonderful neighbors until their recent move to Salinas in 2016.
Marie was a dedicated teacher in La Habra working diligently with each student. While teaching she earned a Masters of Science in Education from California State University, Fullerton in 1981.

Marie was a selfless, kind, brave and hard-working woman who first enjoyed raising her children. She taught them important life lessons by her example. Marie also loved spending time with family and friends, reading, gardening, attending Bible study, and achieved a hole in one, twice in golf. Marie was always an enthusiastic lifelong learner. At age 88, she even took up learning to play the ukulele. Marie and Harold were active members of Kiwanis, participating together in many community service events.

The service of remembrance will be held 9:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Rose Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary, 3888 Workman Mill Road, Whittier, CA 90601, in the SkyRose Chapel. Interment to immediately follow.
A lunch reception will take place at Clearman's North Woods Inn, 540 N. Azusa Ave., Covina, CA 91722 following the service and interment.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sunrise Villa Salinas,Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula and her local physicians for their kindness and care.
Marie was a dedicated member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society for more than 40 years, an international organization to promote professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Delta Kappa Gama, 5 Pajaro St., Salinas, CA 93901.
