Richard Thomas Braxton was born July 20, 1935 in Los Angeles, California and passed away on April 15, 2018 in Whittier, California. He was raised in the Los Angeles area and graduated from George Washington High School with the Class of 1953.

Richard was a veteran of the United States Army, and served as an Army cook. He was employed at Stewart Title for 54 years and held various positions throughout his five-decade tenure there.

Richard was an avid sports enthusiast and particularly enjoyed outdoor sports, including golf and fishing. He had a special interest in the "Sport of Kings" – thoroughbred horse racing. He was a competent and able handicapper and could be found most weekend mornings out in his garage pouring over the Daily Racing Form. Richard was a dyed-in-the-wool USC Trojan fan and had a considerable collection of USC memorabilia.

He is survived by his wife, Diana Braxton of Whittier, California; his sons Terry Braxton, of Spanaway, Washington, and Bryan Braxton, of Fountain Valley, California; his daughter, Laurie Braxton of Westminster, California; and one brother, Dean Braxton of Panguitch, Utah. Richard was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Braxton of Yankton, South Dakota.

Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 15100 Cordova Rd in La Mirada, California. Viewing from 10:00am and Services will begin at 11:00am on Friday, April 27, 2018. Internment immediately following at Rose Hills Cemetery, Whittier, California
