Nov. 14, 1932 - Jan. 23, 2021 Robert Algarin was an extraordinary man who was incredibly kind, caring, and radiated positivity. He was compassionate and helped anyone who expressed a need whether it was great or small. He was also known for his boundless energy and uninhibited laughter. He peacefully passed away on January 23, 2021, at the age of 88 after living a long and exceptional life. Bob was born on November 14, 1932, the youngest of eight children. He was a remarkable husband, father, uncle, and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all. Bob was a 1955 graduate of Purdue University. He married his wife, Marcia in 1961 and raised six children in Whittier, CA. He served the Whittier community for many decades as a high school English teacher and wrestling coach. Although he retired from teaching in 1994, he was continually recognized and acknowledged in the community by many former students whom he had impacted and inspired. Bob is survived by his wife Marcia, six children, seven grandchildren, one brother, and a large extended family. He will forever be in our hearts. In memory of Bob, please do something kind for a neighbor.

I will miss his smile and laugh. I will never forget having him as my English teacher after lunch and never wanted to miss his class. I remember stepping it up to get a B grade. What a challenge. I love and miss you. Your niece Chris

Bob was such an incredible guy, always so kind, sweet and accepting. Always a smile and so good natured. My deepest sorrow and condolences to Marcia, their children and grandchildren, all of whom have felt like family to me for many, many years. God bless you all. With love and respect.

I’m so saddened by the passing of Bob Algarin. I truly loved visiting with him at The Relay for Life events and various family gatherings. He always brought a smile to my face as his laughter and joking filled the room. He was a wonderful man and he truly will be missed.

Everything this says about Bob is true. Everytime I had the opportunity to be with Bob and Marcia they both greeted me like I was family and made me feel welcomed and loved. I was so sad hearing about Bob's passing and can't imagine the grief his family is feeling with his loss. The only consolation being the 88 years they had to be with him. What a wonderful life. We can all learn something from how he lived his life. Cathy, Bill, Ian, Shannon and all of his beautiful family, I'm thinking of you and grieving with you. Love you!
