Rothenberger, Thomas R. "Tommy"
Thomas R. "Tommy" Rothenberger , 64, a long-time Whittier resident, went home to be with the Lord on December 9, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. Tom was born April 23, 1950 in Reading, Pennsylvania, the only child of Ethel, a homemaker and Thomas Rothenberger, Sr., an insurance salesman. The family moved to Whittier in 1959. They became active members of Bethany Baptist Church. Tom attended Hillview School and was a 1968 graduate of California High School.
Tom was employed by the Herald Examiner newspaper for 19 years.
In his last years, faced with mounting health challenges, Tom was grateful for friends at WACC who enriched his life. Tom is survived by his cousin, Kathy Polkinghorn. Tom was predeceased by his parents. A private service was held earlier this year. Donations may be made in memory of Tom Rothenberger to Whittier Area Community Church, 8100 Colima Rd., Whittier, CA 90605
