Robert Gallinger Obituary

Robert H. Bob Gallinger, 53, of Acton, MA, died on Thursday, May 25, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his beloved wife of 20 years, Catherine A. Cathy (Ackley) Gallinger and his two loving children, Brian and Jody Gallinger, all of Acton. He is also survived by his sister, Kim M. Gray and her husband William of Litchfield, NH along with several nieces and nephews, and parents in-law Edward and Agnes Ackley. Bob was born in Schenectady, NY, son of the late Leon Tommy Gallinger and June (Fidinger) Gallinger. He was raised in Essex Junction, VT and graduated from Essex Junction Education Center in 1982. He later received his Bachelors Degree from Clarkson University of Potsdam, NY in 1986. He has resided in Acton for 20 plus years and was most recently employed by Loomis Sayles & Company, Boston in Equity Trade Settlement. He was previously employed for 16 years by Bank of America/Merrill Lynch in Client Services for Institutional Equity and for 11 years by Salomon Brothers in Equity Sales and Fixed Income Support. Bob was an avid outdoorsman. His passion was hunting and fishing trips. He spent many weekends hunting with friends in Clare, NY, Vermont, and locally at the Harvard Sportsman Club. He was a devoted father and enjoyed all his childrens sporting events including volunteering as an assistant coach within the AB Youth Hockey Program. He truly cherished spending time with his family. Trips to Florida, the White Mountains and visiting with his wife Cathys family at Finger Lakes NY were always memorable times. In years past, he had enjoyed a good round of golf. Most of all he was a kind and giving man who will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. Visiting hours at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rt 111) Acton, MA 01720 will be held on Friday, June 2nd from4:00 to 8:00 p.m. A service and celebration of Roberts life will be held on Saturday, June 3rd at 11 a.m. in the Acton Congregational Church, 12 Concord Rd. at Rte. 27, Acton, MA 01720. Committal services will be held privately in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Acton.
