Betty Harrington Obituary

Betty Florence (Olsen) Harrington, 88 years of age, a lifelong resident of Braintree, passed away at the Life Care Center in Plymouth, Friday, Nov. 11, 2011. She was born and raised in Braintree and attended the Pond and Hollis Schools and graduated from Braintree High School. Betty was a housekeeper at the Franklin Nursing Home in Braintree, the Braeburn Nursing Home in Whitman and worked in the Braintree High School Cafeteria before retiring in 1985. She enjoyed bowling and knitting. Betty was devoted to her family, especially enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church of Braintree. Betty was the loving wife of the late Harold E. Harrington, who died in 2003. She was the devoted mother of Valerie M. Brown married to Paul Brown of Middleboro, Thomas H. Harrington married to Jeanne Harrington of Braintree and Harold E. Harrington Jr. of Phoenix, AZ. Betty was the caring grandmother of three: Cheryl Hayes of Plymouth, Thomas H. Harrington of Plymouth and Leanne Forsberg of East Bridgewater and great-grandmother of five: Bryan, James, Hannah, Cailyn and Ryleigh. She was also the niece of Grace DeCoste Sullivan of Bridgewater. The Reverend Father Thomas P. Mulvey, rector of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church of Braintree will conduct a private funeral service for Betty. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, South Weymouth. Memorial donations in Bettys memory may be sent to the Mass Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA): 350 South Huntington Ave., Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
