We met Joann and John during one of our cross country trips with our motorhome. We were drawn in by their intellectual vivacity, social and environmental conscience and their joie de vivre.
We had the pleasure to share several other cross country excursions-a memorable one was in the Saguaro desert. During our long stay in Cape Cod, we had an opportunity to visit them in their nest in the middle of the forest and acquire a more intimate knowledge of their existence. We were quite impressed by John´s library-a PhD in chemistry with an extraordinary collection of books on advanced mathematics that revealed the breadth and depth of his knowledge.
As a departing gift, they gave us two prints of John´s artistic photography which we continue to cherish in our living room here in Toronto, Canada. We cherish them but, more importantly their continue to make their presence felt. With gratitude for having enriched our lives. Helen and Diego Nigro

We had the great pleasure to meet Joann and John in one of our RV camping trips and we were immediately struck by their incredible intellectual vivacity so much so that we made sure to enjoy their company during our subsequent motorhome trips to the United States. As a math undergraduate, honour list, I was astonished to see such a wide selection of specialized mathematical books in his library in their beautiful villa in Cape Cod. John´s famous software on the state of the art of chemical compounds was another manifestation of his brilliant mind. In our living room in Toronto, Canada, we continue to enjoy his presence with the two art-photos that John graciously donated to us. (See attached photo). Despite our silence, both of you, Joann and John, are always present to us and we want to express our gratitude to both of you because You made a difference in our lives and our spirit is with You, Joann, in this time of sorrow. With love Helen et Diego Nigro
