Joan Rawding Huston Obituary
Joan Rawding Huston, 88, long time Concord resident and music teacher, died Saturday June 2nd at the Wingate in Sudbury, Mass of complications from congestive heart failure. Born July 16th, 1929 in Somerville, Massachusetts, she was raised in Swampscott and moved to Concord in 1952 where she raised her family and taught piano for over 50 years, after earning her degree at the New England Conservatory of Music. She served as the religious education director at the First Parish church for a time and taught at area schools including the Fenn School in Concord. Joan was a humble, kind and very gentle woman who shared the joy of music with hundreds of students over the years and who faced virtually every adversity life has to offer and always with a quiet courage. She was the moral compass of her family and will be mourned deeply. Joan was predeceased by her daughter Janet and brother Alan. She leaves a son Peter and wife Barbara of Hiram, Maine, nephews Scott Rawding of Marblehead, Mass, David Dahl of Wellington, Nevada, niece Carol and husband Steve Crisp of Amherst, N.H. Sister in law Judy Rawding of Marblehead, Mass and a beloved and incredible friend Sandra Andreson of Maynard, Mass. There will be no services in accordance with Joan's wishes. Cremation arrangements are by Lehman Reen and McNamara of Lowell, Mass. Her ashes will be scattered over her beloved Chatham seashore. In lieu of contributions in her memory please share a musical performance with a loved one.
