Just a note to say that Benson Saler continues to be an influential and often-cited voice in the study of religion. I just cited him, yet again, in an article I am writing. He is missed by many, like me, who never met him personally but respect his work enormously.

One of the brightest and funniest guys I ever met. Loved him. He had an expensive and ultra high tech sound system, which my husband and I had the good fortune to spend an evening enjoying. When they were having trouble selling their house Benson suggested they take an offer for the sound system and throw in the house.

To Joyce and saler kids.
Just learned of Bensons passing and wish to convey my condolences. Chantal and I last were with Ben and Joyce on a cruise up the inland passage in Alaska with other Princeton 1952 classmatea, Burt and nan Weiss, Harvey and Silvia glickman, Ben and Joyce and my late wife, Chantal, some years ago. It was most fun. Great memories of orcas, seals, glacier bay and the train ride from Skagway up to Yukon and back. We lived in Lexington before moving to Carleton Willard village in Bedford where I now reside. We all admired Ben freshman year at Princeton, because he was the only one of our group to have a steady date for party weekends. It was Joyce. Much love to all the sealers. From Allan Sloan.
