Charles Richard Crozier passed away peacefully on September 19, 2011 at Seashore Point in Provincetown where he was an active participant in the community during his two year residency. He was the son of the late Frank and Jayne Crozier of Indianapolis and was predeceased by his brother Robert Crozier of Orleans. Formerly a resident of Orleans, Charlie is survived by his sister in law Ginny Crozier of Orleans, his devoted nephews Robert Crozier and his wife Gillian of Singapore and Spring, NY, Thomas Crozier and his wife Barbara of Middleton, WI, William Crozier of Charlestown, RI, John Crozier of New Rochelle, NY, and his nieces Mirren Crozier and Isla Crozier, and nephews Dane Crozier and Jake Hawley. Charlie was a decorated WWII veteran who was twice injured, garnering a European African Middle Eastern Ribbon, a Purple Heart and the Oak Leaf Cluster. He was honorably discharged in 1945 after service in South France, Germany and Italy. An accomplished artist with an applied arts degree from the University of Cincinnati, where he was a proud member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. Upon graduation Charlie worked at the Gibson Card Company designing greeting cards. He went on to work at the advertising firm o J. Walter Thompson in New York City. In the late 1960s Charlie let loose his artistic muse and set off for Spain where he spent three years painting and enjoying a whimsical slice of life. When he returned he signed on with his brother at Bob Crozier & Associated where he was an advertising director. Locally, Charlie was a member of the Visual Arts Cooperative, the Viewfinders Camera Club and served for several years on the Cultural Council in Orleans. A spirited and inquisitive man, Charlie collected many devoted, often unusual friends, who shared his sense of humor and adventure. He was beloved by all who happened to cross his path and will be missed. A memorial service for Charlie will be held at the Federated Church in Orleans, December 10, 2011 at 3:00pm followed by a reception in the churchs vestry. A retrospective of his art work takes place at Artworks Framing Gallery in Orleans during the month of December with a reception on December 17, 2011 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, all are welcome.
