Arthur E. Lorenson

Arthur E. Lorenson, of Hingham, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2015, at the age of 90. He was the beloved husband of 65 years to Wilma C. Lorenson; loving father to Donald A. Lorenson of Clinton, Deborah S. Pages of Pembroke, Wendy Lorenson Wilson of Hingham; cherished grandfather to eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; caring uncle to many nieces and nephews; brother to Harold, Edward, and Edith Judd, and the late Ralph and Fred. Mr. Lorenson graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., after World War II. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was in the 44th infantry and was captured during the Battle of the Bulge and was a POW until the end of hostilities. He was Chief Perfumer at Gillette for 24 years. Arthur was very proud of his Swedish heritage. He carried on through his life as a devout Christian who loved volunteering and lending a helping hand to those in need. Arthur was an incredibly talented craftsman who enjoyed woodworking, and building doll houses, and was an avid golfer. He was a member of the Hingham Congregational Church in Hingham for many years. He and his wife Wilma moved to Florida in 1984 where his love of music led him to direct a community chorus of 80 voices and a church choir before returning to Hingham in 2002. Arthur was a wonderful man who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial service will be held at the Linden Ponds Performing Arts Center, 203 Linden Ponds Way, Hingham, Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at 10 a.m. All family and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
