Oliva Eleonore Welch, 83, of Easton, passed away peacefully in her home on April 1, 2021. Eleonore was born on December 12, 1937, in Oberstaufen, a small village in the beautiful Bavarian Alps. She was the daughter of Theodor and Maria Trenkle. In 1961, she emigrated to the United States and was an Easton resident for over 50 years. She was a dedicated homemaker and lovingly raised four children, Heidi Churchill, Christopher Welch, Jeffrey Churchill, and Sonja Marcheselli. She was also a loving grandmother to Shannon Balcombe, Kevin Welch, Christopher Marcheselli, Jr., and Maria Oliva Marcheselli. Family was everything to Eleonore. She frequently returned to her native Germany with her children and remained close to her siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Heinz Trenkle, Brunhilde Haussler, Julius Trenkle, and Fritz Trenkle and survived by her brothers Theo Trenkle and Wolfgang Trenkle. Eleonore was a proud U.S. citizen, yet she embraced and shared her Bavarian heritage and traditions, an attribute her grateful children and grandchildren (and their numerous friends) will continue in her memory. Eleonore enjoyed gardening, cooking, and travelling. She expressed her creativity through her stunning embroidery, pottery, knitting, and hand-woven baskets. She enjoyed hosting and cooking for both her German and American families, her children, and her friends. She was gracious and engaging, leaving a lasting impression on those who had the good fortune to have met her. Eleonore was a former member of the Easton Garden Club, a long-standing member of the German-American Club (Boylston Schul-Verein) in Westwood, a proud board member of the German Aid Society, and beloved member of the German American Ladies Society (GALS). She was especially fond of the friends she made as a volunteer at My Brothers Keeper in Easton. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at Holy Cross Church, 225 Purchase Street, South Easton, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Canton Street, North Easton. A celebration of her life will be held in late summer. Memorial contributions in Eleonore's name made be to National MS Society, P.O. I am very saddened to hear the news of Eleonore's passing. Such a warm person one doesn't often have the privilege of meeting in life. I can hear her calling me by name with her beautiful German English -- "Shhteve" :- )) To her kids, my cousins, I wish my deepest heartfelt condolences !! What an absolutely cool person your mom was !!

Sonia / Heidi:

Our deepest condolences on the passing of your mother. You only had to talk with her for a few minutes to realize that this was a woman of intelligence and class, with a vibrant personality, who was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She had such style!

We were blessed to have known Eleanore through our shared love for music. We (members of The Alpine Echo) played many times at the Boylston Schul-Verein and saw the joy in Eleanore's face as she danced to our music. She was a wonderful, beautiful lady full of life and love. We will never forget her smiling face! We pass on our deepest sympathy to her loving family and friends. She will be deeply missed.
