Jean Greenhalgh Obituary

Jean (Holmgren) Greenhalgh passed away peacefully April 6, 2010, at the Hospice of Volusia Flagler Care Center. Jean was born to the late Theodore and Doris Holmgren, Feb. 22, 1943, in Milton, Mass. She was raised in Quincy, Mass., and Marshfield, Mass., and moved to the Florida area in 1988 with her husband Bob. Jean will always be remembered for the bond she created with her family and the love she shared with her family and friends. She loved her computer and often would send animated emails to friends and family just to ensure everyone would stay in touch. She was generous in giving her time and talent. Through the Blanketeers club she created many knitted and crocheted items which were given as donations to organizations in need. In addition to her love for knitting and crocheting, Jean loved planning trips and traveling, dancing, reading good books, gardening and playing MahJong with friends. She especially loved her time visiting her grandson and her children. She and Bob were also members of the Flagler County Sportsfishing Club and she belonged to Fitness One where enjoyed the exercise classes and friendships she made there. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, the love of her life, Bob; her son, Mark and his wife Elizabeth of Huntersville, N.C.; her daughter Kristen Verrill and her husband Chris of Ovid, N.Y.; her 5-year old grandson, Tyler Verrill; her sister, Linda Marie ODonnell of Roswell, Ga.; her brother-in-law, Jim Greenhalgh of Palm Coast; her nephews, Adam of Springfield, Mo., Danny Greenhalgh of San Francisco, David Greenhalgh of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and sister-in-law, Shirley Cornfoot of Merced, Calif. A memorial gathering for Jean will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Jeans memory to Hospice of Halifax Health Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange. Condolences can be made to the family at www.lohmanfuneralhomes.com.
