Eleanor A. Benedict Obituary
Eleanor A. (Hamm) Benedict, 99, of Stow, MA, formerly of Pittsfield, MA, died on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Sunrise Assisted Living Facility in Weston. She was the wife for nearly 72 years of the late John Paul Benedict who died in 2014. Eleanor, the daughter of the late Clark and Delia (Dwan) Hamm, was born in Pittsfield on April 18, 1919. Soon after graduating Pittsfield High School, she met her husband, Paul Benedict, while roller skating. They were married in Pittsfield in 1942, and enjoyed over seven decades of loving marriage. For many years, Mrs. Benedict was a Sales Asso- ciate and familiar face at England Brothers Department Store in Pittsfield. She was an active parishioner at St. Francis Parish of Pittsfield, and in her spare time, loved doll making and crafts. Eleanor was a loyal and devoted friend and neighbor to all whom had the pleasure of knowing her. She leaves behind her devoted daughter, Joyce Benedict Ricker and her husband James of Concord, four loving grandchildren, Jason Ricker and his wife Lisa of Mansfield, Justin Ricker and his wife Fran- cesca of Sudbury, Evan Ricker and his wife Mara of Concord, and Autumn Gray and her husband Ian of Lunenburg. She is also survived by seven adoring great-grandchildren, Austin Ricker, Kathryn and Campbell Ricker, Marina and Gabrielle Ricker, and Brody and Maverick Gray. She was predeceased by her only brother, Clark Hamm. Entombment beside her husband at St. Joseph Cemetery in Pittsfield was private.
