Leontine Dunn Obituary
Leontine Lee Stockbridge (Eley) Dunn, age 83, of Stow, passed away peacefully in her home, after many years suffering with Alzheimers disease, on Sunday, January 27, 2019 with her eldest daughter Patricia and her loving husband John Dunn of sixty-six years by her side. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 30, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Claire and Leontine (Stockbridge) Eley. She worked for her family business, Dunn Oil Company of Maynard, for many years and lived a very active and creative life calling both Stow, Massachusetts and Kailua, Hawaii home. She enjoyed spending her summers in Ocean Park, Maine. Lee was an avid reader of countless books over the course of her lifetime. It remained one of her favorite activities and a safe harbor for her mind right up until the last year. Also an avid crafts woman, she spent most of her waking hours creating unique hand-crafted objects as gifts for friends and family or for donation to any number of her favorite causes, and volunteering for many years at the Stow Council on aging teaching crafts. She was what you might call a cat lady and always had a feline sidekick of the Siamese lineage to keep her company. Her home is filled with everything cat from statuettes, to pillow cases, to paintings and drawings. She was a health nut, walking many miles every day, and cooking healthy meals for her family with fresh produce from Johns garden. She is survived by her husband, John Edward Dunn of Stow; her children, John T. Dunn and his wife Sue Storbeck of Oilville, VA, Patricia Boucher of Maynard, MA, Andrew Boucher of Ayer, MA, Suzen Raven and husband Ian Raven of Biddeford, ME, Laura Dunn and husband Peter McGuirk of Biddeford, ME, Elizabeth Searle of Westford, MA, Eric Dunn of Phillips, ME; 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Her brother Thomas Eley, of Greenwich, NY; and countless extended family and friends. Lee was predeceased by her son Carl Dunn, Foster daughter Julie Aaronson, sisters Barbara Webber and Lois Kennefick. We wish to express our deepest heartfelt gratitude to the excellent caregivers and the VNA hospice team of Woburn who brought such expert gentle care and comfort to Lee, and John, in their time of need. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Gifts in Lees memory may be made to The Pat Brody Shelter for Cats, PO Box 142, Lunenburg 01462 or Save a Dog, 604 Boston Post Road, Sudbury 01776 or The Learning Center for the Deaf, 848 central street, Framingham 01701. Or an organization of your choice. Arrangements under the care of Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, A Life Celebration Home, Maynard. To share a memory or offer a condolence visit: www.fowler-kennedy.com.
