Eleanor 'Elly' Gross, age 90, formerly of Needham and of Spring House in Jamaica Plain, passed away March 31, 2021 peacefully surrounded by family. Elly was born September 1930 in Boston. After graduating from Brighton High School she went on go earn an associates degree from Boston University. After graduation, Elly worked as a secretary at Harvard University, Needham High School, and Babson College. At age 16, Elly met Buddy, who would later become her husband and lifelong partner. Together, they had one child, Donna. After retirement from Babson College in 2000, Elly volunteered at Newton Wellesley Hospital and Needham Council on Aging. She cherished 'hanging out' with and telling stories to her beloved grandchildren. Elly loved spending time with her treasured friends. She was an avid reader, took great pride in her work, was a lover of the ocean, Cape Cod, elephants, coffee, anything Needham and Frank Sinatra. She was also committed to keeping active by walking and biking. Elly was predeceased by her parents Lillian and Morris Golder; her husband Buddy and her Daisy. She is survived by her daughter, Donna; son in law, Ed; three grandchildren Ali, Becca, and Debbie; sister, Gladys; niece, Diane and her husband, Lee and nephew, David.
