Leslie "Bud" Leo Holgate Jr. , 80, died in Klamath Falls, Ore., on Feb. 6, 201 . A graveside service will be held at the Eagle Point National Cemetery Feb 20th at 2:00pm. in Eagle Point , Ore. Davenport Chapel of the Good Shepherd is in charge of the arrangements. Bud was born on Jan. 2, 1938, to Leslie Leo Holgate Sr. and Kathryn Holgate in Willits, Calif., where he went to school. He quit school to work at the railroad in Willits, then later joined the Army where he received his GED. After coming home, he married Mary Ann Remstedt in Reno, Nev., on June 6, 1959.They lived in Willits and Ukiah, Calif., then back to Willits, where they had two of their sons. They then moved to Santa Rosa, Calif., where they had one more son. Bud joined the LDS Church and became an elder in Santa Rosa, and later became a deacon. He worked as a carpenter and went to carpenter school, then also took a job in a gun store where he learned to rebuild guns, reload and make stocks. He loved to work on guns, and he loved his carpenter work. He moved to Oregon in 1974 and helped work on building mobile home decks in the Pinecrest subdivision, and other jobs. He then worked for Weyerhaeuser at the Sycan Shop as the night foreman, working on locomotives and derailments, then carpenter work in Bly during the day. He then moved to Sacramento, Calif., and did carpenter work, spending some time moving from job to job and moved back to Bly, where he worked for the Forest Service in Lakeview until he retired. He loved fishing and hunting and shooting his guns. Bud is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; three sons, David, Michael and Todd; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Cleo Jackson, of Kentucky.
